Legislation Sponsored
During the 49th Legislative Session (2009-2010), I focused on responsible policy that solves problems. I demanded common-sense solutions and worked with both Democratic and Republican legislators to get there.
During my first year in office, 2009, I authored a bill to allow Arizona veterans immediate qualification for in-state tuition at our colleges and universities. It drew bipartisan support and is now law.
Here are some of the other things I fought for when I served as your Representative:
Jobs:
- Sponsored bill to prohibit taxpayer money from going to businesses that outsource jobs
- Supported targeted funding to increase security and border inspection capacity at all ports of entry
Education:
- Opposed massive budget cuts to our public schools
- Supported access to early childhood education programs for all kids
Public Safety:
- Opposed budget cuts to law enforcement and privatizing of Arizona’s prisons
- Sponsored bill to protect veterans from financial solicitation fraud
Good Government:
- Sponsored bill to end unfunded state mandates to cities and towns
- Sponsored bill to re-open rest stops by removing barriers to local-state cooperation
I can only represent your interests if I know what you care most about. That’s why I make it a point to travel to all corners of our large district often, and why I invite you to call me with any questions or concerns, at (520) 378-4386.
Thank you,
